Such a cute French restaurant right on the Napa River--it really feels like you're transported to the French countryside. The atmosphere is charming, and the food is very traditional French. We stopped in for a quick lunch and had the classic onion soup and beef tartare, paired with some wine, of course. Both were delicious and exactly what you'd expect from a French bistro. Can't wait to come back and try more from the menu! Pricy but perfect spot if you're looking for a little taste of France in Napa.
The food was good but seemed to lack something. The menu had limited seafood options. This was summer hit day and an extensive summer would have been great. The waiter seemed stoned. I ordered a veal scaloppine with mushrooms, expecting a French restaurant to offer Morell mushrooms but instead it was cremini mushrooms with a flavorless rice under the veal and mushrooms sauce. The muscles were very good but I would have lived to be offered some chili flakes for the tiny kick, since it the sauce was to light. The French fries were excellent and crispy, perfect for dipping. My frown has a Provençal bean salad. The pappardelle excellent but a bit more meat would have been awesome. The location is excellent and romantic right next to Napa river. The river offers some cooling from the summer heat.
Had a lovely lunch in their outdoor patio on a warm early autumn day with views of the glittering river nearby. I hadn't been here in ages and was pleased to see that they had updated their patio. Super inviting. Service and food was better than I remember. Our server was friendly, attentive and helpful. Our fried artichoke hearts were light and crispy. The escargot were served with a crispy puff pastry as opposed to a crunchy baguette. I personally prefer a baguette. The watermelon pimm's was delicious!
First time at Angèle and it was delicious! Proud "Napkin" and I can easily say this is one of my favorite meals. This was also my first time trying escargot, so I was pretty nervous, but the texture of it and also the puff pastry on time made it so easy to enjoy. The meal started out with complimentary bread + butter, we ordered some cocktails, my partner got the "gettin figgy with it" cocktail and I ordered the cocktail special which resembled a gold rush. We sat at the bar and got excellent service from the bartenders and barbacks. Also, some dim lighting, nice location, and good company makes for an excellent date night in Napa!
This is a beautifully situated restaurant along the Napa River. I've been here a couple times in the last several years and it's a great place to brunch. Outdoor seating is definitely the way to go since they have a really nice covered patio space with great views. Appreciate all the gardenesque decor. The waitstaff were nice. They were all pretty friendly and helpful. We come here mostly for the views and serene setting but the food is pretty decent. Some items were hit or miss. The pate en croute was a miss but the escargots with puff pastries were a hit, as were the croque monsieur. In general, parking in the napa is pretty easy to find. Lots of lots and street parking.
We were driving by by and the restaurant looked so inviting and refreshing right on the river. We missed breakfast so we decided on an early lunch.. FOUR thumbs up! What an incredibly delightful surprise.. We ate on the porch/patio --on the river. It was a beautiful day We even had desert. And-...who could refuse the delectable fig (I think) ice cream.. Next time ... dinner
One of our absolute favorites in Napa and always delivers. They have been there over 20 years, and the experience is as great as ever. And we love to see the owner at the door, every time we dine there. The wine, service and ambiance are always awesome, but it's the food that keeps us coming g back. We loved the gazpacho and the fried artichokes. The standout was the mussels. Perfect! We can't wait to return and recommend it so highly!
A waterfront restaurant in downtown Napa. Classic white tablecloth dinner ambience inside. Food was tasty but a little overpriced, menu is just about similar to other restaurants in the area. Great place to eat if you plan to walk around downtown Napa
First stop of our Napa trip. My boyfriend surprised me and brought me to this cute restaurant for lunch I ordered the artichoke salad and they brought me fried artichokes so I sent them back. The waiter was very apologetic. Bf ordered the caviar with a salad. My fave bean salad arrived and it has 4 tiny artichoke hearts in it. The dressing is kind of tangy. The waiter is AWESOME and adorable.
